Pretty sure they are off a twin 4 stroke motor and I'm also pretty sure there is AP's on them. I mean I looked at them last night at 3 in the morning before I went to bed but I'm pretty sure that's what they were. I'll snap more pics tomorrow.
Got this rack of brand new TM40 Mikuni carbs at the swap for 10 bucks. I want to make these work on my XS650. What do you guys know about it. I'm running a TM36 on my SR500 and it came right out of the box and ran like a beat child. I know the TM40's you get in single form are top cable...
4 things when mocking up my KYB sporty front.
1) Still need to finalize the stem placement in the lower tree to make sure the two bearings are correctly positioned so as to be able to be preloaded. The top bearing has a lip it sits on and the bottom is an interferiance fit. I can not take...
Just got my KYB ironhead and 34mm xs trees back from the machine shop. I'm running a 21 with Avon SM. I'll check my trail numbers when I get it all mounted up. Check my build thread for details.
Those American Mini Lathes are cheap! Hell yeah. I'ma read up on that cool site.

And the build is waiting on my front end to get back from the machine shop. I couldn't cut it on my machine cause my 3 jaw chuck is wampus. You can make parts on it and cut them off but you can't put in existing stuff. I have like 4 chucks and 3 face plates but the spindles on them are too...
IMO the older craftsman lathes are not really that great but 100 times better than anything from HF. I did recently see a large Enco something lathe from Tawain that was really nice but it was also 13 thousand bucks.. I have a Southbend Heavy 10 built in 1969. It's old and crusty but amazing...
HF screw drivers are junk. Their precision anything is horrid. Once you realize what machining is you will be angry you wasted your money. I would find something else for around 600. Sometimes for twice the money you get 100 times better quality. Don't skimp on machining stuff. It's...
Front is going to be 1973 Sportster KYB front end with "big drum" Sporty hub laced on a 21" rim with 3.00 Avon Speedmaster. Trees are at the machine shop right now. Should have them with in a week I hope and then I'll be mocking it all up on it's rubber. That is roughly ride height. After...
Built my rear wheel. MikesXS AL rim and SS spoke kit. It sucked. But I guess I'm ready for the next one. I learned a ton.
Outer spokes needed pushed over 90* via the wood, vise and hammer method. Not that big of a deal.
Spokes too short especially outers. I found a few longer ones...

I relaced it and am having the same problem with the outers as the few of you. Seems they being bent at 90* are not enough as they need to go past 90* to fit correctly. I'll hammer them over in the vice and try it and if not after that I'll file a bit off the hole and after than I'll bend the...
