For Sale - Complete Cafe Project For Sale---Member Needs Help

I have for sale a just about complete cafe project. Let me explain......A year ago last December I bought a 1979 XS650 Standard with the idea of turning it into a top notch cafe racer. The bike was in excellent condition and ran very well being used as a daily commuter by the owner. It had...

    Mike's xs fl

Punks.....I agree completely! The across the board opening price increase was definitely not the way to win the hearts and minds[?]of their customers!! And it is true about the Pamcos......got mine last week!

    Mike's xs fl

I have to agree with those folks who say, "give them a chance!" There are certainly going to be some problems with any business transition whether it is small or large. The number of XS vendors who carry a wide range of products is not so large that we can afford to lose one the major players...

    Options for aftermarket gauges

Have to second the TrailTech recommendation if you are considering using digital ones. They are very well made, look great, supposedly easy to install, and are priced reasonably. They also have optional add ons and different installation kits to place the unit many ways on your bike. I have...

What was your first motorcycle ?

Honda CB77 Super Hawk....great first bike; had that just right amount of power for a novice....enough to be fairly easy to manage and enough to be exciting as your confidence and skill increased.

    pinesol for cleaning carbs ?

Guys, I found this Pine-Sol trick over on the Honda DOHC Custom formula. I tried it a couple of days ago and it worked well. You don't have to remove rubber or neoprene parts....that is one of the advantages of this system. Apparently, the guys over there have used this for a while with good...

    Spring

It's a balmy 54* today in central Virginia.....only problem is that it is pouring rain and has been for the last 10-12 hours and is supposed to continue into tomorrow.....flash flood watch is in effect....going to have to stop working on the XS and start pulling the ark out of storage! I don't...

    highway pegs?

I'm also not a fan of highway pegs, either! Because of that I have a set of them I took off that the PO put on my standard '79. They are made of twisted stock and are in very nice shape....be glad to sell them to you for $25 plus shipping. JS

What's the proper length for a veolcity stack?

What James wrote is correct....however I don't think there would be that much difference in power or where it is on the power band from the range of velocity stack sizes that you could fit with any amount of practicality on an XS.....again as James mentioned, jetting is critical when using stacks.

    finally done!

I like it! Nice clean, simple lines....everything flows together well. That nacelle style headlight with the speedo inserted is a very nice part that really makes the bike look vintage. Good work!

    changing brake/throttle side switchable control

Stupid electrical question time: I have a '79 XS standard that has a damaged brake/throttle side switchable control. It needs replacing which, in itself, is no problem. Mike's XS stocks a controller that fits '76-'78 XS and has a headlight on/off switch. I was going to install an on/off...
