Well I quest there is going to be a big Harley sale on all those bike that they are allowed to take under the law. Its a good thing no bystanders got killed but the guys who did still have families that have to go on without them. Going to be interesting to see if it was police bullets or members still shouldn't happened got out of control for WHAT! I have been to auctions like this before and bikes go fast. Its a different world out there.
RIP for all who passed

Latest blurb on the news is that a 6th uninvited gang showed up, fight broke out in the bathroom, then it spread.

As I understand it, the restaurant owner arranged the event...

Its just a total shame the way it played out and its going to be one knucklehead that started the whole thing. I have only been in TEXAS twice at race tracks racing motorcycles and every last person I met there was super nice. Now I know from personal experience and have been in two crazy shoot outs while I did live and hang around that life style. It happens FAST ....ALL brothers have to back up each other and if be lay there life on the line. Its just not the way it goes down so I think you are going to here police may have ended it. Nine is too many killed with gun shot .

From what we have heard locally, the management at Twin Peaks didn't arrange the meeting, but the bike club reserved the outside deck for it. One of the gangs who were uninvited showed up, and that's when it all started. Apparently there were gun shots fired inside first, and it spilled into the parking lot. There were already Waco PD on site due to some warning signs that something might go down, but that didn't stop anyone. They came out with guns blasting, and the PD stopped it right there. Sad that some bikers there were just wanting to attend the meeting, and maybe join the club, but the bad apples spoiled the whole bunch. Now they're all locked up and being charged with engaging in organized crimes. I don't know how they're gonna sort through all the b/s to determine who the bad guys are. It's a mess for sure!

I would like to know how many of the dead were killed by rifle bullets (from police), and how many by the bikers themselves. I'm sure I'll never know the truth. The whole thing smacks of a set-up by the police, who were on hand and just waiting for an excuse to open fire on the bikers. Remember, this is Waco, the city that massacred over 70 men, women, and children Branch Davidians in 1993, and whose out-of-control law enforcement has been breaking the law ever since.

Americans & guns, what is that all about ???? now Bikers are killing each other.

What about the families left behind, I hope someone up there is looking after them

Remember, the raid on the Branch Dravidian's was by the FEDS, and they were a bunch of religious fanatics following a child molester who claimed to be a prophet hearing straight from the mouth of God. Not quite the same thing.

Yes, we Americans need our guns to protect ourselves from all the other people in this country that have guns. The police are convinced that everyone is armed, so they need bigger guns to take care of the criminals with guns. The citizens see the police with their guns and are afraid they might be confused with a criminal and go out and get more guns to defend against not only the criminals, but the police. Some nut decides to be dumb and use his gun and the whole country has yet another reason to buy a gun! We used to worry about the big bad Russian bear coming over here and invading the country. We don't have to trouble ourselves any more. Most of the world thinks we're all that nut with a gun.

Mark,
thank you for that, I think I understand it a bit better now.

It must be really easy to get possession of a gun,,,,.all I can say is thank god the Geneva convention banned flame throwers.

If you are just a simple Joe or Jane here in the US you can go to any gun shop and purchase a gun. Hand guns are harder to get but a rifle can be bought in WALMART. Guns on the streets are not these guns and sometimes its easier to buy a gun on the street than a store. I use to have a nice gun collection that was bought off the street because of the guns I wanted. I have been at gun shows in the south and have bought guns there so its not hard to get them. The problem is there are way too many in the hands of people who don't know how to use them and too many get hurt. When you fire it that bullet goes somewhere so if you miss it finds someone else. People listen to bullshit about the end of the world and have many guns ready to protect themselves. When it comes MOTHER NATURE is going to laugh at your guns and its over! This here is getting to be a one sided kill in WACO and its going to get covered up like everything else. Law inforcement are people too just like you and me and they get scared and make poor judgement like everyone else. So I won't be surprised if this was one sided.

Below is from today's Austin American-Statesman (our newspaper -- Austin is 102 miles from Waco). Note how much the video footage of the event, as described by the News Media who reviewed it, differs from Law Enforcement's spin on the event. I am shocked!

Video: Bikers ducked inside eatery
Security footage suggests that deadly gunfight unfolded almost entirely outside of restaurant.

WACO — As gunfire broke out in the parking lot of the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, dozens of motorcycle riders ran inside seeking cover and tried to guide others to safety, security video reviewed exclusively by The Associated Press showed Wednesday.

The video suggests that Sunday’s deadly gunfight unfolded almost entirely outside the Twin Peaks restaurant, except for one round fired by a biker on the patio, who then ran inside.

On the patio, bikers ducked under tables and tried to get inside. At least three people were holding handguns. One biker was seen running with blood on his face, hands and torso.

Before the shooting, the inside of the restaurant appears to be mostly empty. Bikers and other patrons can be seen walking to the windows facing the parking lot where police say the dispute began.

When gunfire begins at 12:24 p.m., most bikers, other patrons and staff immediately run away from the windows and into the restaurant’s interior.

One camera angle shows bikers running into the men’s bathroom. When there’s no space left in the bathroom, they dash toward the kitchen.

Another camera angle, on the far side of the restaurant from the gunfire, shows patrons who aren’t wearing biker gear crawling behind tables toward the kitchen. At least three bikers appear to be gesturing to have the patrons crawl to safety.

The AP was exclusively shown the video by representatives of the Twin Peaks franchise, who have said the fighting occurred outside the restaurant, not inside as police have said. The franchise hasn’t released the video publicly, citing the ongoing police investigation.

None of the nine video angles shows the parking lot where police say the dispute took place.

Waco police spokesman Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said police have the video, but he wouldn’t discuss its contents.

Authorities on Sunday swept up about 170 bikers who descended on the Waco restaurant. Among those arrested was Theron Rhoten of Austin, who had just pulled into the parking lot on his vintage Harley chopper when the bullets started flying.

Rhoten showed up at the Twin Peaks restaurant for a regional motorcycle club meeting. But, according to his wife, he soon found himself in the middle of a deadly shootout involving scores of other bikers.

Katie Rhoten said her husband ran for cover and was later arrested, along with motorcycle-riding friends and other “nonviolent, noncriminal people.”

“He’s good to his family,” she said. “He doesn’t drink. He doesn’t do drugs. He doesn’t party. He’s just got a passion for motorcycles.”

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara and Swanton declined to comment Tuesday on whether innocent bikers were arrested in the melee.

Police have said that all those arrested were part of criminal motorcycle gangs, but only two of the nine killed had criminal histories in Texas.

Records show one of the slain, Wayne Lee Campbell, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in 2002 in Rowlett in Dallas County and sentenced to probation. In 2007, Campbell was charged with assault in Tarrant County and served 45 days in jail.

Another of those killed, Manuel Isaac Rodriguez, was arrested in 2010 and served probation for unlawfully carrying a weapon at a bar in Lewisville.

Police have said the gathering of five biker groups was to resolve a dispute over turf. Some bikers dispute that, saying the meeting was organized to discuss laws protecting motorcycle riders and other subjects.

Katie Rhoten said her husband, a mechanic, called her from jail and said that he and two other members of the Vise Grip motorcycle club ducked and ran for cover as the violence raged around them.

Police have acknowledged firing on armed bikers, but it isn’t clear how many of the dead were shot by bikers and how many were shot by officers.

The arrested bikers have all been charged with engaging in organized crime, and each is being held with bail set at $1 million. It is unclear how long they will remain in custody.

“Unless they try to make some other arrangement to move them through it more quickly, it could be weeks and possibly months” before the jailed bikers have bond-reduction hearings, said William Smith, an attorney who has met with several of the inmates.

The eight members of Theron Rhoten’s group, the Vise Grip Club, specialize in building and riding vintage and antique motorcycles, particularly pre-1970 Harley-Davidson big twin choppers, said spokesman Brian Buscemi.

Buscemi said the bimonthly meetings have been happening for 18 years.

“Yes, there was a problem at this scene, and it was absolutely horrific, but there just also happened to be a significant amount of people there who had nothing to do with it,” he said.

I was at Laughlin River Run when that one broke out. Its amazing how few did time on that even though the entire thing was caught on film. These guys employ some pretty big name attorneys.

Daddy you seem to want to put the blame on the police.. back in the 70 cops said put your hands up you did, .now everyone want to fight the police.. where is the respect they deserve. everyone one want to worship our service men and women , but at least they know who the enemy is .. on the street you never know who is armed or not . and of course all these good god fearing bikers ( use biker as a joke) were not armed and just out having a tea party.. I have never been pulled over or detain by the police for not doing something wrong... they were all there for one reason. Let me ask you how would you have handled it?

Well I'm not going to say whether or not these guys are saints or bad guys conducting immoral activities to profit but I do know this. The government is no better if they think they stand to make a buck. Look at the case of prostitution in Vegas. Yea they say, let us in on some of that action. The same thing is beginning to happen with weed. They just do the paperwork to make something legal and collect the tax revenue. All legal and proper now. The government now owns the turf. If your going to conduct said activity you have to go through us so we can collect.

Their not going to make a buck. The 1%'s are taking care of problems. The way the government takes care of it a different way if you don't go through their now legalized activity. They throw your ass in prison for a few years. Of course they could shoot you first. Oh and that may be while your running in the opposite direction as we have seen in several recent videos across the country.

You said "The government is no better if they think they stand to make a buck" so I ask again How can they make a buck in the Waco shooting? As far as drugs, pot like in Colorado is allowed by the local governments not the police. The police just to enforce the laws on the books they do not set the laws..Do you really want to start blaming the government for some motorcycle gangs (clubs ) shooting it out. keep on the subject .
