1982 XS650 High pitch engine noise

When at all rpm's it has this high pitch noise. Most noticeable at lower rps. Was told to see if the starter is dragging but wanted to see what xs650.com says. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Josh

Loss of power when in gear?

Well, I'm lost with this one. I have an 1982 xs650 running with pod filters and rejetted 1 step up on both the main and pilot jet. It was running great, then after a few days of riding I went to start it up and it idle'd perfect. Then i put it in gear and started driving in first gear and...

Blowing the 20A fuse when turning key

I checked the resistance between the two brushes and am getting ~580 ohms. I have it narrowed down to the stator assembly as everything else checked out. Edit. Figured out the problem. The wire that goes to the brushes was shorting out on the stator! Thanks for the help!

Had it running momentary, but can't get it running again.

Took apart the carbs, some gunk in the jets and blocking some fuel. Gonna clean it out, probably clean out the tank and then try getting it started again. I will update as soon as I get that all done. Thanks

Had it running momentary, but can't get it running again.

I purchased a 1982 XS650 that required a new charging rotor. I replaced that and got a few new things including a battery, spark plugs, fuel lines. After replacing those things I kicked her over a few times and she idle'd fine. Let her run for a few minutes and then called it a day. Next day...
