GSXR front caliper & rotor on stock 35mm forks???

Thanks again guys - always good to to get different perspectives! Yes, the Tokico calipers can be had for as little as $20, does anyone know if they will fit a stock XS rotor? or... even if it does, is that not a good idea?

    Inverted fork install.

Hi Gary, I'm trying to get all the right info for a front brake upgrade. Stock XS650 35 mm forks, and spoke wheels. I like the GSXR calipers you used. Question... if I go that rout do I need to change the stock rotor too? If so what do you recommend? Also are there particular GSXR...

GSXR front caliper & rotor on stock 35mm forks???

thanks RG, but i'm wondering if this kit will also accept something other than a Brembo? I'm interested in the GSXR calipers because they are a lot less expensive. I guess i'll shoot them an email. Anyway thanks for the link!

GSXR front caliper & rotor on stock 35mm forks???

Hi guys thanks for posting! I guess what I'm getting from your comments is that I can use the stock rotors and a variety of different calipers as long as I fabricate the right bracket to hold it?

GSXR front caliper & rotor on stock 35mm forks???

I'm building my second XS650 - kind of a "cafe/scrambler". I'm going with 18" rear with stock drum brake and a 19" front (both spoke). I'd like to ditch the heavy stock caliper and rotor and replace with a GSXR caliper and rotor (singe side). Dose anyone have any info on this type of swap...

Wanted - A good crank & rods or a good running XS650 motor. Los Angeles / Hollywood

My rod bearing are bad in my 79 XS650, so I'm looking for a good replacement crank/rod assembly or an entire motor with low miles (non abused). Thanks, Quinn 323.314.0778

    35mm forks for a 72 frame.

Gary, I was looking on eBay... I think you might be right; a lower stem swap from an xs750 might be the most cost effective way to go. Do you know which years I should be looking at?

    35mm forks for a 72 frame.

Hey hard-y-rd, thanks for the info - good to know. Btw: do you happen to have know the finished stem length? Reason I'm asking is that I measured the neck on the 74 and the neck on the 72 and there's about an inch different in length. You post suggests that there is only about 1/2"...

    35mm forks for a 72 frame.

Hey guys thanks for all the help. When I bought the 72 I also bought a 74 and a 79 (both complete bikes but non runners). Anyway someone must have swapped out the forks on the 74 somewhere down the line because both forks measure exactly 35mm. As for the mod itself I measured the neck on the...

    35mm forks for a 72 frame.

Hi I've been looking around the forums for info but haven't quite found what I'm looking for... My next project is a 72 (for my second street tracker) - it came with only the frame motor and tank. From what i understand it's a good idea to convert to 35mm forks. Good news is that i have the...

Expanded charging system guide (In progress)

I was too frustrated with the stock system. Took the advice of another member and went with a PMA and Pamco setup and haven't looked back. Plus it allows you to ditch the battery if you want.

    Forks get stuck

Hey guys here’s the update to my dilemma. When taking the forks of the bike I found that one was compressing freely while the other was binding and getting stuck when compressed. I decided to tear that one down to see if I had maybe done something wrong… in a nut shell I didn’t see anything...
