Our first paying customer. Powder coating some HD parts. The brake lever is for my bike sporting our buddies "defye" clothing logo. Fun night. And for the hell of it we are now "Slacker garage shop" "SgS"

    Longer (than 13") shocks?

I bought a terribly chopped XS and have been trying to restore it back into a respectable ride (this has been my inspiration). Turns out in my fit of fabrication I've made the rear loop on the frame either a couple inches too short or a couple inches too low. It looks nice, and I've already...

Anyone know anything about shaping flat aluminum (sheet metal)?

I would like to make X75 Hurricane-like sheet metal for my cafe (Pic). I was going to model it in CAD, cut it into manageable sized pieces (I want exposed rivets anyway) then section my models and make wood molds/templates for the maybe 3 or 4 pieces on each side and start hammering aluminum...

What's your brake-stay arm look like?

To all those that have decided to chop, what are you using for brake-stay arms to the frame? Pics would be worth a million here. I'm thinking some chain welded to form a solid rod. What else ya got???

    Hole-y engine cover

I've always liked the way these looked, been wanting to try this for a while, finally got around to firing up the drill press: Before: Hmmm, you know what this needs: HOLES! Quick sketch to see how they might lay out: After: A center bit helped me a lot to get the holes where I...

    Gary's junkyard tracker build up.

Some may recall I "found" a chro/moly tracker frame last fall. Weighs 17 pounds compared to a stock frame's 49 pounds but it is "a work in progress" I got a mock up engine stuck together to see what this is going to take.... this is going to stretch my talents and then some. Just about...

What bits and pieces to shave off my frame?

Next week I'll start cutting unnecessary bits out of my frame for a cafe build. Before I go crazy with a 4" grinder, what have you guys cut off? Anything you cut then regretted later?

    slugs, where to buy them?

Do you just buy solid steel rod and cut it in lengths you need? Do people sometimes use thickwalled tubing as slugs, whose OD = the ID of the tubes you want to weld together? I want to try re-working an old pair of z-bars I have (make 'em shorter and have more pull-back), and am wondering...

Anyone have need of CNC machining?

I've mentioned on here before that in addition to an MC fanatic and avid tinkerer I'm an engineering student. Right now I'm doing summer work for a precision manufacturing company coding CNC for them and I'm thinking about building my own CNC mill (converting a Sieg X3 seems like the best idea...

    David Bird...

I just had to start a separate thread to say this... I was not expecting a call from David Bird regarding some issues fitting my hardtail. Not sure why... I mean I did spend a lot of hard earned money on it.... I am obsessive about learning to weld better and after watching his videos I may...

    Eye/Face Protection

I just thought I'd share a lesson that I learned the hard way... Use face/eye protection when using grinder and power tools (DUH!!!)... I had to to and get a piece of steel taken out of my eye with a 30 ga needle b/c they did not have a dremel type burr tool they use for "foreign bodies"...

    Sprocket chain tensioners

I think it's about time I aired this out.Coupla months ago, I asked my local mechanic to install a chain tensioner for me. I took him a photo of the one Ardcore was advertising, and gave him their web address. He contacted them and ordered one for me and also one for himself. Now, several...
