18 post and 6 post stator difference?

piecing together my PMA swap and I got a 6 post stator and I am noticing that all the PMA swap kits use a 18 post stator. Whats the difference? Did I get the wrong banshee stator?

My guess would be that the 18 post stator could put out more current.
