1981 XS850 triple midnight special

I have the opportunity to buy one of these at a great price, 30k miles runs good. Does anyone else have one? Is it a good bike? I have hear that the triples aren't good.

There were some 2nd gear troubles with the 750 earlier versions, supposed to be fixed by the time the 850 rolled out. Super smooth, you should like it. I don't know about engine life, but 30K never scares me unless it's a real beater with poor care in the past. And how long has it sat? It's over 30 years old, after all.

Just 9 months, it's inspected still. Just don't know much about the triples. Bad battery I guess.

XS650 77 and later second gear is a straight swap into the triple. 30Ks is nothing for one of these.
