I am getting ready to put my Hughs Hand Built 277 back together. With the left piston at TDC where will\should the right piston be? Will it be on its way up or down?
Thanks
Al

Just checked, with the Left at TDC the right is traveling down near the bottom of its stroke.
When I time a rephased XS I don't think about the right side at all, until I have set and checked the left side.
Then I check the right side, so far the cam grinders have been good and there have been no problems.
The first one I did I got all tied in knots thinking about what the right side was doing. By ignoring it and setting the cam as per the manual it was no harder than doing a 360 motor and its works out fine (but always check).

Thanks for the posts guys. Other question which way does the crank rotate CW or CCW looking from the left side. been 30+ year since I work on the motor. I am thinking it was CCW.
Thanks
Al
