34 tooth cam .what timing chain?

I have a 256 motor and 34 tooth cam . what timing chain do I need?

You need the 102 link, .315" (8mm) pitch chain. Look on Mikes, they have them.

just a little confused frame #'s show the bike as a 1978, yet it has 256 rods and early style chain tensioner. need some help understanding what I have, eng #s650207187. electric start. did they use 256 rods in 78?

No, you have an older 256 motor swapped into a newer frame it seems. Since it has the electric starter, it is probably a '72 or '73 motor.

that's what I thought. bunch of mix matched engine parts. that's ok, good thing this is going to be a chopper.
