Travis, they upgraded the starter but I think the battery upgrade helped as much. On a stock engine the compression release isn't really needed. It is a trick item though.
On the 750 kits with the more cc's and higher compression the compression release isn't just a trick add on but one that actually helps things out.
On my 75 with the 750 kit, if you need to kick it more than once or twice on a cold morning my foot starts to hurt. Even the battery don't like it much.
I have the release on the engine, just don't have a cable or lever yet. Been meaning to go to a bicycle shop and look the brake levers over to see if I can get on that might work. Holding it with you hand while kicking is not only tough but looks very silly too.
