So this is the out of stock rim I want to use. 2.5x16x36 but currently the stock rim is like 2.15x18x36

I believe I can use stock hub if i just get correct size spokes?

http://www.mikesxs.net/parts/yamaha-xs650-wm-2-50-x-16-x-36-hole-aluminum-rim-black

Any issues with this? Am I correct on the hub?

Size of spokes? Just find some that are 2" shorter then stock?

I would like some black or smoked chrome spokes.

Thanks for ideas/info
Rich

Mike's sells spoke sets that fit his rims to your hubs.
Cadmium plated or stainless steel. If you want them colored , powder coat them.

Hey Rich,
Something to keep in mind here. If you're going to be running the chain guard you'll probably have to shoot for a Special guard and probably need the drum brake stay also as those pieces for your '77 are designed for the thinner 18" tire........the Special was notched on the guard and flattened on the stay for the fatter 16"er.

Although the part # is the same I think there is some evidence the factory 16" hubs were drilled machined a bit differently to accept the steeper spoke angles needed to fit the 16" hub. Going the other way 16 to 18 has no issues.

Thanks Gary, so whats the solution? if there is one...
