Alternator brushes

Hey, Im running a Mikes Rec/Reg and a Pamco ignition. Ive seen some diagrams that show my green brush wire running to my orange regulator wire and grounding the black brush wire. And other digrams put green to orange like before, but take the black brush wire and run it to switched power (along with the blue wire from the Reg).
I have the black one grounded right now and am not charging at all.

thats the problem. The brush set-up was different for the reg/rect. combo.

yeah i think the other way will work, the brushes need power. I guess they are grounded where they screw to the case.
