Bobber Build

There was a chip in the metal before powdercoat, its only noticible because of the glare. Its actually kinda hard to see.

Its movin fast because I have been super busy at work and have had extra money to spend on it lately. Kinda sick to think I have spent close to $1000 on the bike this last month:yikes: Yours is gettin there too, or at least the pile of new parts is getting bigger right? Haha

Yes & No! The pile of parts is getting bigger alright, you just added to it clip ons and triple! The cafe isn't even started on yet. The bike I am working on has a charging issue by the looks of it and I need to sort that out now. Customs are too hard to get regsitered so have to get stock bike running on the road registered then do mods/chop and hope the po-po don't look at you too closely.

It started... It rode... It made a lot of noise!! I had no idea this thing was gonna be so loud, little kids in my neighborhood were plugging there ears as i rode by! Lol.

Well I have ridden it a few times this weekend and have had a problem every time! First off every bolt that didnt have a lock washer or nylock has come loose from this rattle trap! First the tank and fender came loose, caused my fender to hit my chain and take a chunk out of the fender. Then my fold up foot peg came loose, piloted, and folded down while I was riding.. then my tail light sense screws came loose, lost the red lense for the tail light, and broke the bulb! Man, I wish 1 ride would go ok..

hehhh, if it makes you feel any better, even after a "tightening session" prior to 1st ride, my entire tail light fell off and was hanging by the wires. I'd forgotten to check that one thing. Good luck going forward!

At least yours was still attached! Now I have to find and order another tail light lense. Any one know where to find a 33 Ford tail light lense?

Sorry to hear about the issues I guess a tube of loctite is essential to a build. It is annoying but at least you know what to do and should have a reliable ride once all it tight.

Sweet, thanks for the options. Im gonna order the led kit from speedway as soon as there back in stock.

Glass lense, and filament bulb on rigid bike=broken shit all the time. Already had to replace the bulb once, and the glass housing cracked after about 30min of riding before it fell all the way out..

LOL sounds like at the very least you need to blue loc tite every piece of metal w/ threads on it, and if you're never going to touch it again, might as well red loc tite it lol.

Glad you got it running and shake down runs are always fun. At least now you can enjoy it more than you did when it was just sitting. :)

Ya shakedown runs are a little nerve racking, but im gettin more and more comfortable with it. Got it up to like 80mph yesterday and I had a bit of realization that if something goes wrong im gonna be pretty messed up:yikes: I think I will keep it under 50mph for the next few weeks, till im really sure everything is gonna hold together.

Most of the factory bolts have lock washers, or nylock on the nuts so they stayed put, plus all the nuts I used have nylock too, so its just a handfull of bolts that I added that needed the blue locktite, think I got em all now:shrug:

Going to harbor freight tonight, gonna see if I can find a trailer light that has the correct size lense so I can ride it before my led kit gets here. Ordered a headlight off ebay too since lowbrow has been out of stock for like a month! I rigged the stock one on for now so im legal, but that thing is way too big to keep.

I ended up ordering a 4.5" round one from TC Bros. Lowbrow has a matte black bottom mount headlight I want, but like you said they've been out of stock forever. And I agree the stock one is way too large for a bobber/chopper bike.

Good luck bro. Might try some farm stores or a John Deere implement/dealer as they may be able to match you up to a lense.

I have ordered form that seller of the headlight before - Sportster stuff. They really do have great prices.

Well I threw some tail light repair tape on there for now to get me back on the road. So far so good! Only thing im seeing is my crankcase breather right above my carbs is spitting oil on my fender.. Do you guys run lil filters on there, or just a hose down under the bike?

Here is a pic with the side covers, and the new numbers.. I really love the way this turned out. It has the exact style I was hoping for, kinda like an old race bike with some modern touches..
