Don't SEE it on yours, but that LOOKs like the coil from Mikes XS, if it's the one I'm thinking of the spade terminals on the end are extremely fragile. The primary winding is very thin and can come loose from the terminals.
Just giving a quick update on where my story ended up.PAMCO products are only available from www.yamahaxs650.com . We no longer sell the XS650 products through distributors.
I sent Pete an email. Hopefully he will be able to get back to me sooner than later. This nice weather has me wanting to ride!! Not to mention looking at the bike on the lift has me spending money lol ordered the PMA charging system today. Already working on it so might as well upgrade, right?I think the original Pamco can be used with the separate e-advance...........Just have to have the 60 degree magnet plate...........
Email Pete would be the best option and discuss your situation.
Pete Barry Toy here. Sent away to get a 277 ignition system from you. I have not gotten any parts yet. Sent away around the 4th of April. Please help thanks Barry
@peanut After 3 weeks without a response to my multiple emails to PamcoPete i took your advice and ordered the Boyer. Quick response to every email, quick shipping and my bike runs again! Now to figure out what nonsense the previous owner did with the jetting!
Don't feel alone. I got a new PAMCO with e-advance from him in March. Works great until bike warms up then looses spark. Sent several e-mails and several messages asking for help. 3 12 weeks later no help. Going back to points for a while, then a Boyer. After 3 weeks without a response to my multiple emails to PamcoPete
I also use Boyer on a lot of my bikes and have been using them for over 30 years. I am doing one now and there service is great and have a phone number.
I also have used Petes PAMCO and had good results but refuse to buy the XSCHARGE knockoff. There will be a problem with mismatched parts and that will happen because most think they are buying a PAMCO and you are not. Time will tell and I will sit back and watch.
@GLJ Because i learned way more about the PAMCO than i ever intended it sounds like the eadvancer May have a short in the board. Do you have 3 v on the green wire and 12 on the red on the side of the box closer to the Hall effect sensor side?Don't feel alone. I got a new PAMCO with e-advance from him in March.
