I am in the process of pulling apart the motor for my bike, and I am trying to follow the manual, but the pictures are not that good, and I am not sure what I am supposed to be doing..

I was trying to take a picture but my camera was in my car and won't turn on. It says its too hot. Anyway any advice?

this is what I'm looking at

You already have it off. So what's the next question?

The list of what I need to do goes like this

Breaker cover
2. Breaker backing plate
3. Breaker housing
4. Governor cover
5. Notched plate
6. Lock nut (using punch and hammer)
7. Governor assembly
8. Breaker shaft (to the point side)
9. Dowel pin
10. Advance unit housing

So what is the governor cover? The picture in the manual is absolutely horrible...

Your manual is for an older bike.
If it is a stock 80 you will have an electronic ignition and TCI box.
You won't have points/breakers or the advance unit, nor the bushings or rod.

Hi

The breaker housing and it's counterpart on the opposite side of the head are held by three pozi style machine screws. A tip with these is to get the absolute correct bit to fit and ply the use of an impact driver to get them going, otherwise they burr up a treat.

Once these are off the remainder of the ignition system is clear

Best regards

Paul

If you have a 1980 then you won't have most of those parts. You'll just have the housings they were in on older models. You won't have a points plate or points. You won't have an advance unit. You won't have the advance rod running through the head. What manual are you using? The factory one is best and is on-line here .....

For better schematic break downs here are a couple of sites.
Follow the menus till you are where you need to be.

For decent photos of the motor the german manual is thought one of the best.
You can find a link in the tech section I believe.
If you want to know what it says a collabrative thread has the translation in pdf.
Don't have a link for that but it is out there.
Good luck on your project.
