Can anyone tell me why there is this key way slot under the cam bearings? The cam bearings cover the slot so u couldn't put a key there if u wanted too

This kinda came up in a long-ago thread. I believe that it was used in the original manufacturing, to orient the camshaft in the factory cam grinder.

Gotcha thanks...just didn't make sense to me and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I do have one other question about cam centering. I've read other threads on this topic but not my exact issue so here goes...when I position cam so that there is equal lip showing for cam seals on both sides the cam bearings show slightly different over hang on the inside. And yes the bearings are fully seated against cam lobes. So do I keep equal seal lip or make inside bearing over hang the same?

Don't worry about the inside overhang. It's the outside inset that needs to be equal on both sides.
