I find that the fuel bowl copper drain plugs could be better sealers. I've annealed the ones I have and they're okay now but I'd like to switch them out so the next time I'm into the carbs or just want to drain them for storage, that they'll seal better after tightening once.

The plugs are 8mm and I believe the copper seal/crush washers is 8X13mm. I suppose a 5/16" washer could work too. Has anyone been using a fiber washer that works well?

Never had a problem with the copper ones, I've done a bunch of carb work.....

Same here. In a pinch you can sometimes find a close size electrical ring terminal that will be the correct size to work,

Instead of annealing or trying to find new copper washers of the correct size, just a dab of thread sealer is all you need. Try Permatex thread sealer. Apply to the threads near the bottom of the drain plug so it doesn't get into the bowl.

Note: This is thread sealant. NOT thread locker.

Good stuff guys!

I never thought of using wire terminals and didn't know about the thread sealant.

Thanks for your help.
