Changing gearing finally, what results will i see

I fell for the 18/30 gearing, I figured I would be doing a lot of highway riding but on the 401 you can't do past 100km/h until 2am. I'm thinking of switching back, it's embarrassing when a 250 pulls away off the line :( . Sprockets are cheap so I think I'll buy a couple.

Quick questions, do I have to fuck around with my chain if I go to 33 tooth from 30? Or does it depend?

Hi Uhlaf,
what you don't want to fuck around with is running new sprockets on worn chain even if the bastard is long enough to work on 17/33 sprockets.
Renew sprockets and chain as a set, eh?

Thanks Fred,

always open to advice from veterans. I'll do the combo when the time coes.

As far as your current chain goes, yes, it just depends. The standard chain length is 104 links. With an 18-30 combo you may have been able to shorten it down to a 102. So, you'll just have to see when you make the change. How far back in the adjuster slots is the axle and how many miles are on your current chain?
