hey, i just re wired a bike i just purchased it had a lot of useless crap everywhere so i basically started from scratch, okay anyway i had every sorted and then put it in my fake oil tank and felt something wasn't right, the coils have two wires on them one black one orange and spark plug lead each, the wires have power but as soon as i plug the condenser in i lose power to the orange wires? is this meant to happen? have a wired it incorrectly?

Basically what I'm asking is when the key is turned on should i have power at all these wires?

the brown wires run to the battery and the orange run to the points junction and split with a condenser in there, if i have the points/condensor unplugged all wires have power once plugged in a lose power to the orange is this normal?

Wish I could give you a pat answer. But I'll bump it to the top.
You might start a conversation with Retiredgentleman, XSLeo, Grizld1, 2manyxs1b's, 5twins or mrriggs.

If a point is closed, I'll ground its orange wire.
If a condenser is internally shorted, I'll ground its orange wire.

Rotate the engine to where both points are open, and recheck your voltages...
