The gentleman that previously owned this steed (1975 xs650) decided to remove the bars and replace them with this clip on one's. I don't like them and plan to remove them and replace them with something more classic. Was curious what I'm supposed to use to get bars recounted? Looks like he removed anything that would have accomplished this but I'm struggling to find some kind of bung or riser perhaps?

Thoughts?

Mike's sells the rubber plugs.. you'll need to get the bar stud-mounts.....I don't have a spare set... but members here should be able to assit. 😎

There is a bishing pack that goes into each ~25mm hole. The bushing pack is 2 piece. 1 goes in from the bottom and 1 from the top. The bushings have an 8 mm hole top to bottom. The handle bar risers have a long 8mm bolt that goes through the bushing and is secured with a large fender washer.

Would these be the item in question?

The pic above is the bushing (bishing :D) This is a top and bottom pic of (non OE) risers mounted on the rubber bushings. The OE risers do have a more classic look to them.

I have a pair and I even gathered up the little cotter pin thing a majiggy. They are solid but you may want to clean up/paint them. Yours for the shipping, $12-$15 or so. I uses USPS because they are 5 minutes away.

Yes, notice the top washer is somewhat special, cupped to fit over the top of the rubber bushing. The aftermarket rubber products you get from Mike's are generally of pretty low quality, so those bushings may not last too long before they loosen up. You can shim them by placing washers between the top and bottom cups. The washers need to fit on the shouldered part of the clamp (top arrow) and be placed between the two rubber bushings (bottom arrow) .....
