Bought my first bike (a 78 xs650) 7-8 years ago after a breakup. Hardtailed it when that rage first started. Rode it for years. Sold it 2 years ago to fund my 1968 t120r chopper. Had sellers remorse ever since the sale . Recently picked up 2 early xs and tx engines and thus back into the.Yamaha 650 scene.

This site has lots of good info on XS650's.
Some like the very modded bikes others like mostly stock.

Thanks for the welcome, Ive attached some photos.

First photo is a photo of my first xs shortly before I sold it. Before I sold it though, I swapped out for some FSC stainless chimp bars, should have kept those

2nd photo is my t120 project. It's an older photo, have a King/queen seat on it now and different sissy bar. Front is a Fury girder. Aris dual headlights. Husqvarna tank.

3rd photo is my first xs650 when I first bought it. Paid $500 for it (8 years ago) and got it running in a few days. PO had swapped out for larger fork legs and messed up the trees and brake rotor. I sold the seat on Ebay for nearly half what I paid for the bike (haven't seen another xs with a seat like that, mounted correctly though)

Are you going to repro your first one off the "new" motors or are you looking to go another way?

Thanks for the comments on the triumph, its been a 3 year project so far.

As for replicating the first xs, no. I liked it a lot but am wanting to build something with a swingarm. The triumph fills my hardtailed wishes. I'll try and get a better picture of it monday or so when I finish up the.engine.
