I am looking for a great condition 72 xs650; cash buyer. Not in a position to take on a project bike now; want either a very nice original or fully restored bike, ready to ride. Appreciate any leads.
I sure don’t know; I’ve been watching locally for years for a nice 72. Most of the bikes that have come up have needed a fair amount of work. Maybe they just didn’t make many of the early ones..
The early ones were definitely made In smaller numbers and their availability reflects that. Including all models nearly 300,000 were eventually produced.
The first three model years amount to less than 60,000 units worldwide.

That’s an interesting question. What qualifies as unmolested? Does it have to be just like it left the factory with all OEM parts and original paint? Do restorations count? As for an all original , barn find XS1, I’d have to say those would be exceedingly rare. Most have either been restored with non factory parts, or chopped up and modified or rusted away to oblivion.
