Is anyone making the stator plates for the RD350 electric conversion?

I contacted Mr. Riggs today to see if he had any custom stator holders and he is down for the moment in the midst of a retooling phase. So he's out of the biz (temporarily hopefully.)

I'm curious if any of you made your own and are intersted in making an extra, or if there's a .pdf file that has the dimensions and a template I can use to cut my own out?

Much appreciated for any information you guys can throw my way. I'm going to start fishing around for the parts to put together the batteryless electrical system now. As I was drifting off to sleep last night I pictured an analog voltage regulator that incorporated vacuum tubes. How cool would that be sitting next to a big electrolytic capacitor in the frame, softly glowing orange?

Im in the same boat. If I find one I will post it here. I ended up with the banshee flywheel, kawasaki 600 stator and regulator. I have the banshee stator plate, but Im gonna hold off on that in hopes of not having to use jb weld to hold it in there.

I think this one was in the 650 garage

i think 3mm can be taken of the banshee bracket, and then you can make an adapterplate from 3mm alu.

at least that's my plan, of doing the conversion.

I Picked up two from a club member here who was having them made cost than $30 Aus plus postage

Does anybody have that in a cad layout? A local shop by me can produce them if I have a good amount of interest I will get some made.

Figured my first post might as well have something to offer.
I can get you a CAD file of that if you let me know what version you need.
In fact, I already went ahead and drew it up, just need to convert it to whatever you need. Also, if they need it to scale and the shop you are using is Imperial, (since you are in IL I will assume they are) I will need to scale it because I used the Metric dimensions.

Just to point out, I think the above patterns are for RD/RZ type stators to XS.

I think that Banshee set up is slightly different, though I could well be wrong. Just a feeling of uncertainty I have!

you only need the rotor(flywheel) of a banshee/rd ,coz it fits the crank.and the statorbracket.
stators you can use of many bikes as long as it will fit in the stator and is 3 phase.
this what i found on another site .
he did the conversion and used a vf500 stator.

This is a layman's description, if anyone knows better please let me know and I'll correct it.

don't now if it's all correct so check the measerments.
you can also use the reg/rec of the same bike you use the stator from so it's a easy connection.

MrRiggs must have found a few extras or something. He contacted me to tell me there were three more available on his ebay account over the weekend. I bought one of them. I like the fact that it's a custom poured and machined part as well as the strengthened threaded holes so I can make sure the screws on the stator aren't going to back out and let things go berzerker inside the flywheel.

Two left at the moment:

I received my Mr. Riggs stator mount and I must say it's a top notch, quality item. The aluminum is really thick. He's helicoiled the thread holes for the stator bolts. It comes with bolts and a rubber half grommet. Highly recommended! It also came with a bunch of instructions about the stator and regulator/rectifiers (in color.)

Why would you helicoil holes on a new part? Sounds to like me he was out and people were wanting them so he found a couple of old ones in the corner that had messed up threads and fixed them with helicoils??? Maybe not..

They look nice though..

he helicoils it because it's aluminum so it makes a better grab on the stator bolts so they don't vibrate and back out. Mine doesn't look like a blem.

From the description:

"The three holes for the stator bolts have Heli-Coil Screw-Lock inserts so you will not strip the threads and the bolts will not vibrate loose. This is not some soulless billet part spit out by a CNC machine in China."

I can attest that it looks like a normal helicoil, but half way down the threading, you can see a pentagonal shaped thread. It's the locker portion where the bolts become more difficult to thread in (need an allen wrench, not just your fingers.)

Thanks for the info on the screw lock helicoils.. didn't know about that.. You could just use loc-tite but that works too I guess. Even with quality billet parts NOT made in China I've never seen that done. Cool idea though I guess... as long it's not increasing the cost of the part too much.. I don't think I'd value that at more than a few dollars. :twocents:

Sigh, I checked out his eba page and no more plates :(
I need a new set up (old one is toast) and this seems the best way to go, but not sure what to do about a plate....

Okay new plan.
Anyone here that did the Banshee conversion that would be able to post some dimensions and drawings I can take to a machine shop?

Pretty please?
