I need to shorten my throttle cable for mikuni vm's and a motion pro throttle assembly. Just curious if anyone has dared to use JB weld to make new cable ends? The throttle cable is a one into two cable from Mikes. I plan on shortening the cable at the one into two juction where the ends are only subjected to pulling force. Has anyone tried it or is using jb weld for this application just a terrible idea?

Do not use JB weld. There is a LOT of tension on each cable end, JB will fail. Do it right and solder. It is super simple with a torch. Get some 50/50 solder at the hardware store and some flux.

JB weld is great for things that don't move... there is way too much flexing and movement in the cable for it to hold for long. Plus, as ember said, there is a lot of tension on it!

Don't worry, I wised up and went the solder route. I don't have a torch so had to use my soldering gun to solder the frayed end.
