Is this a chip in my flywheel? Your opinion would be appreciated.

Hey boys. I was changing my sump filter for the first time and snapped a picture of the engine sump compartment from below.

Is that dark area on the flywheel a chip or gouge or something? It looks like it but I'm a newbie when it come to diagnosing / evaluating engine wear and tear.

Thanks ahead if time for your ideas.

It looks to me like smudge of some sort. Maybe a finger print.
Does it feel like it is raised up or dented in?

Looks completely normal to me. At first look, it looked like something was wrong with the rod. But I just looked at a crank here in the shop, and it is normal.

Thanks Leo and Ben. I looked back at the schematic and I should have said connecting rod. There's a dark edge that looks like a crack or something. But Ben it sounds like that may be normal / wear on a connecting rod. Thanks again fellas. I appreciate you looking at your parts to cross check.
