I just bought two locating pins from mikes xs for my advance rod I'm putting in my 83. I may be confused and figured you guys could help out. These pins seem short in the sense that they are suppose to turn the magnet on my pamco. Did I get the wrong size pins or are they just not supposed to be pushed all the way in the rod?:banghead:

Exactly, just push them in about halfway, or enough so that what protrudes is enough to fill the slot in the Pamco rotor and/or the advance disc on the other side. The pin that goes in the cam to locate the advance unit will only insert so far because the bottom of the hole is blocked off by the advance rod bushings in the cam end. The advance rod isn't like that. The hole for the pin goes all the way through on the advance side, not sure about the Pamco side, but it may be deeper than the pin is long.
