The only Yamaha 650. This bike was first auctioned at the big Las Vegas show, but it had a reserve price that wasn’t met. So it showed up in Arizona just weeks later with no reserve. It was an absolutely beautiful, low mileage unmolested original bike. Original paint and seat, new tires and recent motor work
( undisclosed ) it sold for pretty low money. I’m quite sure the owner was disappointed. Especially considering what similar era bikes at the auction were bringing.

Maybe it's just me but something doesn't look right with the headlight bucket. The highbeam indicator is even with the gauges. The back of it seems flatter. Could just be the camera angle.

Haha! No I was never looking at this bike as an investment. All I ever wanted was a hobby and a nice little neighborhood bike and a walk down memory lane. This bike has already brought me much pleasure! I don’t see selling it any time soon! ;)

Bob,........How is anyone going to know what that bikes really needs to have done to it...............Hell your bike didn't look half bad till you got into it and if it wasn't for your health-issues, (OCD), o_O ;) you could have had a runner that looked like a 40 year old bike...........

What you do have is a 100 odd page written and proven documentation of the restore.........That alone is proof that could be used as a marketing tool.

Of course the bike won't be for sale but that doesn't detract from the fact, that the restoration thread could influence any potential sale.

$4,400...........I don't think the price is to low.........maybe the last year or so, has every one starting to believe ebay prices are a gauge

I have avoided auctions as a buyer for just about everything that's big ticket. A big part of my purchase decisions is the "phone call" I find I learn more about the product offered and it's legitimacy by listening for clues about the seller ( more than the product!) in the phone call. I've bought and sold a lot of $$ stuff long distance but seldom without the "phone call". Looked through your "other auction photos" Bob, there were some very tasty "antique" bikes at what I thought were reasonable prices but man it's tough to decide and buy from small pics!

It's the mini Hondas that get me every time.

Could be because the vast majority were destroyed in short order by all them demon kids, and there's only a few left...
so maybe my yellow bike worth big bucks ....wooohooo...
...wonder should i do full restore or maybe the custom bike worth more...
