Mikes sync gauge

I used my manometer to sync my Triumph tripple
I synced 1 and 2. shut off the engine moved the tube from #2 to 3 then synced 1 and 3. Then I double checked and it worked Okay
 
The hole above the throttle arm looks to be a dead end. Is it supposed to be threaded? There was no screw in either carb.

Those ports didn't come drilled through, threaded, and capped until the '76 carb sets.
 
First you sync the idle speeds using the dead cylinder method. Then you sync the cables for higher speed running by setting exactly the same amount of freeplay in each one. If the freeplay is matched, when you open the throttle, each butterfly plate will begin to open at the same time and will be open the same amount at any throttle position. If freeplay in the cables is mismatched, one butterfly plate will begin opening before the other and will be open more at any throttle position.
