My 79' Brat build

I'll get more pics of the frame when I gets it back from powder coating. Hope early next week!

As far as the bikes in the background there are several. (I think there's like 6 in the shop being built) Not sure on the info on them. They're bikes at Boyd Motor Company, some are there getting built, some are there being built, but the owners haven't payed up so there just sitting there. You would have to contact Ryan there as ask him the details. If you want a # let me know. Also, I know he has Facebook page under Ryan Boyd, Colorado.

Thanks for the Positive feed back! Ready to see it all together!

Some additional pics of the turn sigs coated , new gasket set, The closet full of parts I have been polishing up, I am trying my best to make 41 years look somewhat newer. And of course my new bubble shield!

Just the right side case cover to polish and waiting on a new oil filter for the bottom sump. Then I can piece together the motor with a new coat of black paint.

Thanks,
Yeah, I think it will complement the candy root beer brown great with copper leaf laid on top with an ivory stripe to break the color on the tank and fender.

Awesome! I just realized the two swing arms I had are different. I grabbed the one I thought would work better and just brought it to work. I check my email and BAM, you posted pics! Thanks!

Very clean job. Your build has inspired me.

Gathering leather tools to tackle this part. I have never done anything with leather before, but got a crash course from my brother in-law. I hope it comes out nice. Day of the Dead design with the tattered scroll. I have some leather scraps to work with 1st.

P.S.

Yeah, got my oil filter (sump) in the mail today!

Love the process of this bike man! I saw that you said it is your first bike, and first build. If I can get the money it will be mine as well! The style your building is basically exactly what I am looking at doing. Just spending a lot of time reading up on stuff right now. You also said you were going for a budget build? Any idea of how much you have put/will put into it once it is done?

This also may seem like a really novice question, but I am a novice when it comes to all of this. Haha. But, when it comes to the frame, how do you go about turning it into that brat/bobber style?

Thanks and keep the pictures coming!

Very cool. The drawing reminds me of Michael Siebens work

In the process of re-assembly. My forks need some small pieces. Any one know a good place or have any of these pieces?

On the Micro they are # 4, 14, 10, 11, 28, 29, 30, 31 (forks, 1979)
OEM part #'s:
2FO-23151-00-00
2FO-23157-00-00
278-23181-50-00
509-23158-L0-00
1T3-23145-00-00
1T3-23144-50-00
122-23119-01-00
122-23129-00-00

Randomly looked up online with OEM part sellers and it's adding up to over $70:(

I think Mike's has some of the parts. I know they have the
#4 seals #27-1007 $11 a pair
#14 Dust seal #27-1065 $22 a pair
#10 and #11 The ones in there should be good
#28 Bolts #18-5021 $4.50 a pair
#29 Gaskets #18-5020 $1.10 a pair
#30 Screw, should be able to get them at your local hardware store.
#31 gasket A small o-ring from the parts store to fit the screw and the recess in the fork.
Total maybe $40. not counting #10 and #11.

Finally, got the forks rebuilt and now the bike rolls! Pics with the motor hopefully tonight. (3/28)

Love this process, concept, and the results so far! I see you have Kenda Challengers. I have them on my TX and really like them.

Again, nice work!

Carbs are rebuilt and I just got some sneak peek pics of the tank and fender now that they are done. Josh at Old School Helmets (digthelid.com) did an awesome job.
