Not sure what chain length I need? Help appreciated!

So I'm going to be doing a sprocket conversion on my bike and not sure what length of chain I need. Currently have stock 17/34 converting to 18/30 my current chain is 104 links not sure if I should get one smaller like 102 links since my new sprocket size will be smaller or if I should get the same 104 links. There is some play room to adjust I just don't want to get one too small to where it won't fit or one too large to where the adjustment would be maxed out. Thank you in advance for any help.

I'd say just buy a 104 link chain, and if its too long, you can just remove a link or two as required. Its easy to remove a link. Just use a small grind stone that goes into the chuck of your drill, and grind off the head of the 2 pins.
