Sooo after getting the cam chain on and the top end together.... I opened a tray and found this lovely part I forgot!!! How important is it and what does it really do?

It's the baffle for the breather box. I think it's needed. Too much oil may come out the breather without it.

Oh dear. Yes it has to go back in unfortunately.

Goes in here

I THINK it prevents overspill of oil going out the breather or something like that!

Welcome to the rebuilders club!! Took me about two weeks to do mine! had to partially disassemble mine about 5 times because of "extra bits" after assembly!!!!!

Just be meticulous!

I did that too. Had to take the head of a few times for those "DOH!" moments.

forgot mine too. didn't put it back in. runs fine. no oil blowing out.
But after a few hundred miles, I plan on taking the head off and seeing how my first rebuild is doing in the bores, then it will go back in.
Dosnt it just collect oil mist so it drops back into the motor instead of blowing out? in anycase, mine's fine.
