So - I picked up some new/used head pipes and mufflers for my 1974 TX650 today. The problem is that on both mufflers, the muffler joint nut is still attached. What's worse is that the guy just sawsalled the old mufflers off the head pipes and left those muffler joint nuts on.
So - I've got four muffler joint nuts to remove so that I can get everything installed and they are stuck. Here's my questions.
1. What's the best way to get the rusted joint nuts off the head pipes.
2. How do the muffler head pipes twist on - righty tighty/lefty loosey or is it the opposite.
3. Any suggestions on how to loosen the nuts with penetrating oil or anything else?
any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
