Rephasing project for a 77 bobber

Some more progress with the hardtail. I finally got it TIG welded up. If you look closely I opted to modify my hardtail. I didn't like the weird gussets and the stock backbone piece that connects the downtube to the lower frame rails.

More pics to come soon. But the project is back and rolling along after a 6 month recovery from the accident.

dang, would be great to come check out the shop while your working one of these days.

Good job on mating the bottom rails of the stock frame and hardtail.

New rear wheel laced and fresh Dunlop K70 tire on it. Ready for mock up with rear fender, seat, and tank. Some recent pics:

Got a Biltwell seat hinge. I couldn't resist spending too much on something like a seat hinge. But I liked the shiny stainless steel.

Put the wheel on and pushed it into the sun today for a few photos.

I love how the frame looks without the neck gussets, are you putting any gusseting back or are you gonna run it as is? I would imagine the frame is stiff enough with that crossbar.. Ive done quite a bit of shaving to get the frame as clean as possible, but if i could loose the neck gusset too that be prime. Or atleast shorten it.. Cut it clean and straight, right behind the stock tank grommet mounts.

I dunno. I do like the way it looks without the gussets. But I also am building this thing to ride. And I don't want and flex in the frame up there. Gonna figure it out the next few days as I begin mounting and fabbing the components of the bike.

Yeah that's exactly my dilemma... I suppose i'll keep em on for now..

Here are some more progress pics. I have been really busy working on it again and have just been posting stuff on instagram.

Here are some shots of me making my sissy bar. Im gonna make a small one and a large one so I can swap when I want to take some stuff with me on long trips and camping.

I just used some bungs I got from Lowbrow customs and some scrap round stock I had lying around.

I welded little threaded bungs to the fender and to the frame. Then bridged the gap with some more brackets to minimize things directly welded to the frame itself.

Nice shot of the front wheel. 21" rim from an old dirtbike probably and a modern style rotor from a FJ1000 or some other 90's yamaha sportbike.

Some side pipes I made. I later tweaked them to get the lines just right

I got some old flatslide carbs 30mm from a Triumph flattracker.

And I shaved some material off my triple tree for that sleek, streamlined look.

Then I wrapped the pipes with some fiberglass after I painted them with High-Temp BBQ paint to prevent corrosion.

I also made a really cool battery box and rear brake stop in one.

Also just got my frame back from powdercoat. It looks great in 60% gloss black if you ask me.

I also got a chance to do a proper mock up. I need to come up with ideas for paint now.
