What's everyone's opinion on when to use the Yamabond?

It's used for metal to metal bonding, but what about the side covers, or the sump plate?

I read somewhere that it's not a bad idea to put it thinly on the sidecover and sump plate gaskets.

The question is, Dry or not dry?

I have had no leaks just using new gaskets. the only place I used yamabond on my rebuild was the cases and the valve cover.

Normally all gaskets are installed with no sealers. As mentioned Yamabond or 3bond 1104 is used for joining engine upper and lower case halves and the rocker cover which has no gasket.

Even the head gasket can be installed with no sealant. However, I experienced oil being sucked from the camchain tunnel into the cylinders (it makes a real black mess in the heads and pistons) , so I'm super cautious with the head gasket. I ran a small bead of 3bond 1104 around the camchain tunnel and the 4 large outer studs that are exposed to oil pressure. Is it required...............I'm not sure, but its extra insurance and I now have no oil usage problems.
