Is there a way to extend the speedo cable or somewhere I can get one that's a couple inches longer?

Mikesxs sells an extension. Smallest is 6" I believe.
You may be able to frankenbike one through eBay. Pinwall Cycle out of Massilon, Ohio give some pretty good descriptions on their parts that they sell, many times the overall length on things like brakelines etc. Figure the length you need and see if they have any yamaha cables to fit.....thinking mebbe a Virago could be a likely candidate.

Look on Ebay, there are many 6-8 inches longer for around $12.
