Sporatic Charging

I went for a night ride last night and noticed that my headlight would occasionally dim. I'd go several miles then it would brighten up again. I do not have a voltmeter wired to my bike. My first guess would be brushes. Is this an indicator of a brush going bad or am I looking a a rotor issue?

There's only one way to find out. Remove both brushes and measure................need to be 3/8" or more. While the brushes are out, measure resistance from slip ring to slip ring..............typically about 5 ohms (use lowest ohm scale).

If you don't have VOM, go out and buy one..................essential equipment, just like a manual and torque wrench.
