I have been reading some excellent threads on this site and I must say I am deeply impressed with the knowledge here.
I want to permanently remove the starter motor from my 1972 XS-2.
I need a 1 53/64 freeze plug to blank the hole off.
As I live in the UK I cannot get one this size here.
Is there any kind person here who will sell me one (or maybe more) and post to England?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Dave.

Might be best off getting the mikesxs starter motor blanking kit mate.
I only have one spare left. Ill have a look if I can grab another at the local auto store. If yes I'm happy to send you something. Heck you poms sent a lot of stuff here a couple hundred years ago so I should return the favour :)

So long as your not in a rush, I should be at my local auto parts Thursday night (work gets in the way of fun)
We also call them Welsch plugs here... so that might be worth calling around for.
Also - noticed this thread while 'working' haha

So a 1-53/64 plug is 46.4344mm according to my sources... I also dont think there is much 'pressure' in there so if its a 46mm or close that plus some oil safe sealant might be fine...

ooh, also in the US the plug is a Clevite part number 219-2173

It looks like Ford 351's used them (not all, but many) and should be available (Any of the Ford motors)

3.3l Mustangs also had them and a bunch of Volvo and Euro cars too... there HAS to be a way to find it locally...

Hmm, is this it ?

Yes Dorman 555-083 is the correct number. They cost me about .76 here.

Hey aaronkelly,

Awesome. I have a spare. It's the OP wickermann that is stuck in the UK without one.
I sense some PMs are required between you two ;-)

Good on the XS community for sharing!
Anyone got a spare rephrased engine they could pop in the mail for me :)

Cheers,
Peter
