I'm running it through that translator program right now ..... but it's taking a long, long time. I've got it running on my other, spare computer and it's been going at it for like 2 hours now already, lol. Don't know what I'll do with the file when it completes. Replacing the German with the English translation in the original document would be quite an undertaking. It's like 183 pages long.

I think it's pretty good, certainly better than trying to read it in German, lol. I converted it back to PDF and broke it into parts since this site limits attachment size. Here's part 1, check it out .....

I've started working on formatting, grammatical and deciphering translation errors but I don't know how far I will get as I have notoriously short attention span.

You keep at it Matt, I'll gladly prod you on. I'm not much with Word and Office, I use my computer mostly for bike stuff, music, and porn (and not necessarily in that order, lol). I wouldn't worry too much about offending the original German author, after 2 world wars, I think an occasional bike manual isn't too much to ask.

I've just emailed a couple of translation services to find out a ballpark cost to have it properly translated. If it's reasonable I'll post up here. May need to get the original author's permission etc as well.

Quick update. Two translation services have come back and said it's too technical for them to guarentee accuracy. One has passed it on to a colleague who may have the understanding required.

I fear the dollars/pounds have just doubled

Had my wife take a peek at it and said when you look at the immense undertaking of converting the translation,the investment of $3000 is fair, even she wouldn't tackle it. If you can get get enough interest going,just charge a reasonable fee to cover the translation cost.
