Is it running? hot helps, If it's not running use a heat gun. wood block on the side and a rap with a hammer then a stout sharpened putty knife (round the corners so it doesn't gouge, tap it in.
And once youget them off, clean all the old gasket and sealer off, paint stripper should work. Use just the gasket or O-ring. A light coat of anti-sieze or grease will be all you need and they come off easy.

Pry up on the covers with a plastic windshield stick or similar, at the same time tap them from the side with a plastic hammer, screwdriver handle or even a wood block. They should come off pretty easily.
I've gotten to where I use Loctite 518 on lots of different things. It looks like jelly and never really 'hardens', this allows easy disassembly and the excess easily wipes off after assembly, that leaves stuff nice and clean looking. The big 50ml tube is ~$13 but it will last a long time. As a bonus, unlike silicone sealants it doesn't harden in the tube. And no it doesn't leak.
