Anyone happen to just know a part number for Timken neck bearings? I keep searching and find nothing for a part number. Just sizes and the stuff on MikesXS.

I got mine in fleabay from an outfit in the UK. They worked fine. Price was great too. Much less then I can find them anywhere else. Even if they are import steel I figured I won't burn them up with the minimal rotations they will make.

I have a commercial account which allows me to buy Timken bearings for much cheaper than an advertised price, will will allow me to pass savings on to others...

Looks like I'm going to have to take the measurements and play process of elimination through bearings.

If you find ones that work let us know. I have heard over the years no one has been able to come up with the numbers, odd metric dimensions? Even the ones from UK are taller on the upper one. It still works though. Just sticks up out of the neck tube some.

Had this in my good to remember file not sure where I scarfed it from.
Buy the bearings, but you still will need a lower seal the kits include it.
The pyramid sets on fleabay are about 32.00 shipped.

I think getting one of the kits is about the best way, comes with everthing you need. From many of the threads I have read finding the bearings with the right size races is almost impossible. For the time spent, the cash saved versus riding time. The kit is the way. They have them on ebay somewhat cheaper than Mike's, And also more. Shop around.

From Gorans info:

The Upper Steering Bearing is a 25Y/48YS. The Lower Steering Bearing is a 30Y/48KS.

I agree with Leo. I tried to find the bearings after I found the sizes. had a bearing book and they weren't in there. checked lots of bearing places on-line and even called some and they couldn't find the size. I ended up getting the All-Balls kit from 650 central. (All-Balls website doesn't even list the bearings separately)

Tried for a little over an hour on Friday with no luck... So I guess this means No Dice for Timken bearings.

I bought a set of bearings for my XJ900 back in 2000 from a bearing shop. As soon as the guy behind the counter saw the numbers, he said, "You're fixing a bike aren't you?". The bearing number even had "XJ" at he beginning. Pretty sure they were Koyo bearings. Why Yamaha did this is beyond me.
