Call me an idiot or tell me "I told you so" and I wont be offended. In my quest to stop the clutch
dragging and hopefully be able to select neutral at stand still, I adjusted the worm drive clutch
rod adjuster just so there was virtually no end float on the push rod. Not screwed in tight, just
took up the slack. Well when the engine is hot and everything expands there is about 1/16"
preload on the push rod. How it becomes that much beats me.
So when cold I backed off the adjuster so there was about 40 thou end float , heated the engine up
and the clearance disappeared and problem came back. Backed off the adjuster about 60 thou
and shifting problem all but went away. At this point careful adjustment at the lever was needed
to much and the push rod clearance disappears, not enough and you dont have enough clutch
disengagement. A very fine line indeed. Still cant select neutral at a stand still which is not a concern
just select neutral when rolling. So thank you for all the advice. Here is some pics hopefully of the bike
in question 800cc,long rods, short pistons,Web 359 camshaft, PMA, Boyer Ign, VM34 knock offs
my own exhaust etc etc.
