How are they in the dirt? They seem pretty street oriented..

it's a good question, and I haven't got much time on dirt/gravel with them. The tread blocks are bigger and fewer than the Trail Wings so they might not be as good in the dirt, but the blocks are tall and have sharp edges so I think they'll be better tires than I am a rider. I have run a Trail Wing like yours on my little flat tracker and like it.

I like Shinkos (formerly Yokohama's motorcycle line) because they have served me well through six or seven sets on different bikes, and they don't cost much; probably about half of major name brands.

BUT, this just means that I have to get my motor back together and take the bike out to the dirt to do some reasearch for you!

By the way, I really like your scrambler; thanks for posting the thread and congratulations on winning XS of the Month. Well-deserved.

I have been using your bike as one of the main "inspiration" bikes for my build. I have a 1975 with a 1978 special rear end so that I can have disk brakes front and rear, I prefer mag wheels over spoked. My wheels are wrapped in trailwings also, TW101 on the front and a TW40 on the rear. I went to a motorcycle swap meet on Sunday and while looking through boxes of stuff I managed to find that "headlight cover" you have, It is from a Harley... when I saw that you had a little "fender" over your headlight I thought that was the coolest thing ever, it gives it a really sweet look.

So anyway... I was wondering if you have the whole Harley headlight or if you have the stock XS headlight and somehow mounted the cover differently?

I have the whole headlight. its quite a lot smaller then the stock one. you could probably find a generic 5ish inch light with the bottom mount and mod it to work..

Thanks mate, its actually under a complete transformation right now..

I think the headlight is around 5"s, its off of a ironhead sporty. I'll actually probably be selling it as im using a different one I think..
