Good morning all,

I have clip on handlebars for 81 xs650. I like the way it feels with regard to handling but the vibration will only allow me to ride for about 20 min before my hands go bad. Has anyone tried vibration dampening for clip-on or what grips would be recommended. I currently have:

and they look great have rubber sleeves but am considering

or another pro-grip model.

Try filling them with acrylic caulk and using Gel Grips.

Edit... just clicked on your link, Yes, I have had great experience with the plain but colorful Gel ProGrips on bikes with high frequency vibrations.

You would need to change the resonant frequency of the bars or isolate your hands from the vibes.

You could try different bar ends particularly if you have alloy ones a change to stainless will add mass and alter the resonant frequency.

As has been suggested above acrylic or silicon caulk will not only change the mass but potentially act as a damper.
The down side is that if it makes it worse and/ or moves the resonant frequency to (say) the speed you cruise at it can be a right xx!*~ to get out.
An alternative would be to use some lead. This allows the option of adding or reducing the mass as required.

There is (was?) a product called a Vibrinator which is a mass damper (look at the images in the link) that goes in the end of the handlebar. I'm not sure if they are still available or there are similar products.

Final option would be foam or gel grips.

As an off the wall alternative you could always try the distraction technique. Not sure if this is viable? :wtf:
