What exhaust system does everyone run?

Hi!

I run Mikes XS chrome headers with Harley dyna-glide mufflers.
Got those mufflers for next to nothing and theywere hardly even used! Finish and wuality was of course excellent.
They sound nice, and the exhaust system really complement the looks and the lines of my '76 model.

I am however a bit in doubt about whether or not these mufflers are restrictive, and if, to what extent (separate thread on that)

Some later oem Harley bagger mufflers, the left muffler is more restrictive than the right.

they're crap in general and are sized to fit over the outer of a dual wall header pipe .
I do make use of the stock mounting points on occasion .

2 into 1 from mikes... But looking for something else. I dont want them to be chrome and i feel bad for painting over chrome... If youre into them let me know, and ill sell em.. Only used for about 10 miles...

Nice bike ! I just orderd the 2into1 from xs direct ( same as mikes ) with the 17.5" muffler . Is that the same set up you have ? And, I have a '78 standard , is your frame a standard ? I am hoping the muffler on my bike does not interfear with the axle (yours looks how I want mine to fit ) . Other than that, did it noticeably increase the HP ? Sound good or just loud ? What jets did you use ? ( I have stock early BS 38s, no factory pre set. Thanks .

I use one that gets the exhaust out of the engine.
To be a bit more specific, I built the head pipes out of bits and pieces of stock headpipes and some bends I got online. With Emgo shorty megaphones as mufflers.

These are drags bent for me by Scott Gordon. All "bends", except for the flange that goes into the head. I have 1.5 in baffles in them now, but am not really happy with that sound. I may try the washer-welded-to-a-bolt method of making a baffle.

Although that's the least of my worries at this point.
