What have you done to your XS today?

also did this... hopefully this will remind me to turn the damn gas on before I take off. I had to put an in-line shutoff in my fuel line do to a leaky petcock and I have broken down after 1/4 mile about 5 times in the past couple days because I can't seem to remember to turn it on.

I'm gonna apologize now for the betrayal but I gotta tell someone! haha. I didn't get around to the XS today but I did get the ZX out and about. Changed oil and filter and a few other maintenance items then gave her a bath! :bike:

Was going through my parts boxes over the weekend and found a set of Keihin carbs that said CVK and V334 PLT on them. Did some research and it looks like they are EX500 carbs, so one thing less to buy.

Babies my bike home due to another popped inner tube!! Fuk inner tubes. I just ordered an ultra heavy duty one Michelin one. 4mm thick. And will seal the rim with sealant as an extra protection. Slow down air if tube fails. Will probably put slime inside the tube as well. I usually pop a tube every 3-4 months.

Correct fuel cap came in. And was able to install the cap cover

Was able to remove tire yes!!!! Waiting for tube to arrive.
Did try and seal the spokes. Put sealant and rim tape over it. Installed tire and went to air it up as some people have done successfully. Mines went horribly wrong. Sealant ozzed out of the spokes and did not hold air. Too tire organs cleaned up most of the mess.
All worked I the end. I wanted to cover up the spokes and make sure tube wasn't running up against any bare uncovered spokes.
Also took the time to clean the spokes. All 80 of them :/ lots of work.

Also received my front mc. Of course it had to be 1". Fuk. Had to make it fit my 7/8 bars.
Hope to receive rest of my brake parts by next week. Pics tomorrow

I started mine up today. Been sitting a couple months. Fired right up love those PVK carbs. Looks like the weather is going to be nice Saturday. Would have went for a ride Ice and snow in the driveway prevented that. Suppose to be 59 tomorrow and thunder storms and rain. Have to dig my way out. Saturday 58 clouds and sun going to have fun.

Changing inner tubes was a pita!!! First one I pinched it. So got a second one and went on no. Success. !!

And I was running way under inflated before lol
Have to adjust my springer front tomorrow. Found out it has some play on the neck.

Been rebuilding calipers and bleeding brakes. Installed a new PAMCO w/ e-advance. A lot of staring and dreaming/planning. Getting close to first engine start after rebuild!

Adjusted my front end today. Went for a ride. Found out it was too tight. Readjusted all good now. Front tire holding up great.
Re Synced carbs per drill bit. Helped vibes a little bit.
LBC motorcycle swap meet tomorrow morning :)

built a new seat this weekend out of a Honda 650 saddle. narrowed and shortened the pan and shaved the foam, then stretched the upholstery again. I like it ok... It's much more comfy than my solo seat and the wife can ride comfortably again. At some point I might hand my stock XS seat over to my buddy who's better at this shit than me for a seatpan slimdown, foam shave and more 70's style king/queen reshape, but this one works fine for now, and the rattiness matches the bike, so...

Here's another pic of the new seat I built this weekend.

I also went in search of a ticking that's popped up in the last 50 miles… sounds like a valve to me (which would make sense since I just did the top end 300 miles ago) but I figured I'd check other places first, in the correct order. Exhaust flange nuts were a bit loose, so torqued those back up, adjusted Cam Chain tensioner, and checked nuts and bolts on motor mounts. Gonna do the valves tomorrow while it rains.

Did my valves tonight. The right side intake was loose (.005) so I'm thinking that was the source of my ticking noise. Ill fire her up tomorrow and see.
