I finished my Center Mount Speedometer this weekend. I had to cut up the stock bracket quite a bit to make it work, and since centering the speedo would hit both the headlight and the key, I had to come up with a riser solution. I like how it turned out, and it's nice to have a gauge again, if only for the odometer (my poor old speedo is more of a guesstimation device, even with a new cable...)

Cleaned my carbs, put in my 8-pack clutch and bombed around for about an hour. The install of the 8-pack clutch was a breeze. No unforeseen issues and I have to say even with the OEM springs (I was having slippage with these and the OEM plates before) there was no slippage, it was not overly grabby and it worked very well. Hopefully get some more time to test it out tomorrow.

pulled the forks last night. today put in the 3" HHB lowering spacers, but thinking to powder coat the lowers?? those upper fork covers aren't made anymore...anyone know of another supplier? universal even?

blasted a few of the controls, engine mounts. will powder coat them as well.

Mocked up the hand shifter. But didn't like it. If I do decide to go foot clutch I will just weld the shifter unto the og shifter splines. So that's in that's in back burner now.

Did finally get some parts from dreamer650
Installed a mirror and clutch lever. Lubed clutch cable as well.oiled up my uni filter. Resynced carbs again. And as I was mocking up my shifter I knocked the trucker chick off my ignition cover. I put her on my gas cap. And installed stickers on my bike. Too bad this site doesn't have any stickers.

lets get a shot of the front of your bike. ive seen a few bikes with headlights mounted down below and off to the side. plus i just like looking at motorcycles from all angles

Will get one tomorrow for you jake. And yeah not many side mounted headlights out there. People always get a kick when they see left side and see the headlight....

Found front view pic. Just reminds me of how much I want 3/2 choppers wishbone front leg. Lol.

yeah those are nice, i bet someone can fab you one for a lot less than 250. you have a nice looking bike dude. there's a real nicely dressed up 650 with a red metal flake frame and a girder front end that has the light mounted off to the side. always dig a cleaner look up top. Ive been thing about led...theyre smal and powerful. make it look as though you have no headlight, be great for a 30's tribute flat tracker build.

Thanks jake. And yea I'm hoping to find somebody who can fab that front leg but I can live with out it. Lol.
And funny you mention that red bike with girder. I was looking for headlight ideas with bikes with springer front ends. My headlight was too high due to shock on springer. I was thinking of mini led light up front some where. But thought it would look off like a fog light. Most had headlight up too high or to far out. Then I saw the red flaked 650 with headlight on the side. His is kind off fog/flood like looking too. But got me thinking. I should try it. And low and behold stock bracket worked perfect! I'm always on the hunt now for a old brass headlight to go with my bike.

Put a new HI/Lo switch on . There was some really messed up shit inside that headlight bucket , typical PO job, rewired with one color wire (all black ) and used crimp connectors instead of plug in type . Lots of tape too, but no heat shrink stuff .

I got it all cleaned up now , even went for a ride ( 2 days in a row , 1st ride since early December) . Then I had to wash my bike , so that sucked .

WOOT! I haven't been on this forum for prolly 2 yrs, and the same time not riding. I'm finally going to clean everything out, build what needs to... and RIDE this year! SO, tonight I got the tank off, carbs off, and will start cleaning them out. I'll have to keep in mind I can't do a build-up like I want, just get it ride-able.
