What have you done to your XS today?

Maybe when I cleaned the carbs I didn't actually clean the obstruction(if there was one) and only moved it
Wouldn't hurt to go back through 'em. I usually soak 'em for a day or two in carb cleaner. After that, shop air with a blow gun and about a can of WD40.... hitting the passageways from both ends numerous times. Here's a little trick... 16-18ga elec wire un-stranded. The wire's copper so it won't hurt the carb bodies or the jets... and small enough to go anywhere.

Are there any O-rings or rubber that can be damaged by the carb cleaner? I know there's an o-ring on the needle jet.

Yeah... shaft seals and float valve body as well. O-ring on the mixture screw.. and of course, the slide diaphragm.

Sounds like you’re trying to clean the carbs without completely disassembling them.... this whole last page is exactly why I keep procrastinating in getting into mine....

I use this stuff. Most auto parts stores carry it. It's a tight squeeze, but you can get both carb bodies in there. At least the BS34's. Not sure if 2 BS38's would fit?

Finally got a nice weekend, got the center stand on, new bar switches, windshield, crash bar and pegs on, checked valves, oil change, and took a ride on some backroads! Good to see a lot of bikes out!

Started her up and it ran as it should. Most strange. Its a bit hard starting now though. I didnt see anything in the tank or the petcocks or the fuel lines. I think ill try to take it for a slin tomorrow and see how it behaves.

They built 2 coils into 1 I'd have to Google the specs again to go into detail, but there are I think 2 positive, one negative and the 2 outputs.
Ahhh.... that make sense. So it's two coils molded into one housing. Tricky buggers... what? ;)
