The tapered master cylinder of the Specials will look a bit odd on flatter bars but works just fine. Just turn the handle bars left until the M/C is level to take the cover off.

Yeah the special MC's work, but look like sheet on flatter bars.
And yes I have bike with one on superbike bars, It has all the long buckhorn cables and stuff crammed in there too. Bike is a stocker and no doubt will get buckhorns back on it in some guys personal motorcycle museum.
I don't think it matters if the master cylinder is not level. Its a sealed system so the fluid stays in. Also its off center on most new bikes. Most of the time you have to turn the front wheel to get the bars level to check fluid level.
