Won't be doing that again.

Used to ride to work with a buddy in Florida that worked in the same building as me. He had multiple bikes and so did I. We met up like clockwork at the designated house and enjoyed our ride to and from for the better part of 2 yrs. Out on the road it was like we could read each others minds... was thoroughly enjoyable. I've done a few TFT poker runs and never really enjoyed them... unsettling more than anything.
Solo or 2 - 3 bikes is more my speed.

Riding with strangers is far more challenging than riding in a group of familiar riders. The conga line isn't so bad if you know where your position is. At annual rallies, it's generally the newcomer who will have the accident. So, when you do it, be considerate, and be careful. That said, I find the V-twin cruiser formation ride complete with road captains is a total drag. No thank you!

Clubs. We have established clubs here. Banditos & Gypsy Jokers mostly, followed by a number of minor players.

I've ridden motor escort for both Clubs. I've joined both clubs for memorials.

I've had zero issues other than an occasional loud bike.

Other than small groups that usually are less than a dozen I've never seen the patient, safe, respectful, dedication to the ride that I've experience with our local patch holders.

Just needed to say something.

Yeah, you’re right, they’re fine. I alluded to something I didn’t intend to. I don’t enjoy parade rides. That’s what I should have said to begin with.

Used to do a lot of rides with the Virago Club here, they even let me join even though I rode a Sportster with a sidecar! Anywhere from 3 to a dozen or more and never had a problem. Even when riding with a much larger group at national rallies with two or three dozen bikes they were good. They always had someone at or near the end of the pack who knew the route and if there was a problem with getting separated due to traffic or lights the leader would find a safe place to pull over and wait to regroup.

Very different than most of the charity rides we used to do. Those always had the few who just had to cut in and out and passing people to get back with their friends. Why they didn't just get together before the start and take off as a group I never could understand!

And I always got a kick out of the ones who at the end of the ride of 60 to 70 miles would be complaining abut how long it was a saying their but was hurting as they never rode that far non stop! Now I'm not one of those Iron Butt type riders but 70 miles? I did do a solo ride from near Syracuse NY to Ottawa Canada which was about 250 miles with only stops for gas and boarder crossing!

I used to ride group rides at the VYR for many yrs..but the problem for me was riding in groups of not like minded or similarly skilled riders...and people that I am unfamiliar with...2019 was the last year I will ever ride with a group of non like minded/skilled riders... By comparison there is a group of riders lead by Gary G of NY whom I have ridden with a dozen times at XSEast events and elsewhere..The fast group..all like minded/skilled riders...who know each other and are familiar with how to ride together...6 bikes and 1 three wheeled Triumph Rocket...in 2018 when I was riding my Bandit with Gary's group our Sat. ride was 270 miles in about 7 hours..No vintage bikes except for Earl G on his 1980 XS1100..but this is the fast group...nothing but fast sweeping twisting roads and lunch at T.W.O. of Suches...What an awesome day that was....
Oh and I hate toy runs with the Hardley idiots...done my share of those too..no thanks...
